A female sniper couldn’t suppress a grin when a bullet missed her by mere centimetres during a heated battle for the city of Raqqa in Syria.
The soldier from the Kurdish Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) was taking a shot while standing on the balcony of a building in Raqqa.
Barely a second after she fired a shot from her massive sniper rifle, an Islamic State soldier fired back, with the bullet striking the wall right behind her.
Video from journalist Hemze Hamza shows the sniper giggling and smiling broadly at her lucky dodge.
She peers up incredulously at the bullet hole in the wall, before moving to stand up for another look, but thinks better of it.
“Thank God the ISIS terrorist missed,” Hamza tweeted overnight.
“Kurdish women know no fear. Your average human being would be scared for life after being so close to death but she kept laughing.”

The YPJ are among the US-backed forces advancing into Raqqa in recent days.
The Syrian Democratic Forces have the city totally surrounded and have started advancing, Reuters reports.
Islamic State is feeling the pinch in Syria in recent months, with Assad regime forces, Turkish-backed rebels and the US-backed troops all moving in on the jihadist group.
Raqqa has functioned as the Islamic State capital since the city was captured in 2013. VIA
