A 36-year-old assistant professor from Gujarat, India was arrested on Thursday for killing his ailing mother Jayshreeben because he got fed up of looking after her.
Sandip Nathwani, who teaches in a local pharmacy college, was arrested on Friday, 5 January, for allegedly killing his 64-year-old mother by pushing her off the terrace of their residential building according to the local police.
From the start the Nathwani family claimed that Jayashreeben fell off the terrace after losing her balance as she was suffering from some brain disease.
However after a video came to to light which was posted on YouTube the police changed their line of enquiry into a murder investigation.
“After viewing the video, we checked CCTVs installed in the apartment and the recording clearly suggested that Sandip was with Jayshreeben when she fell off the terrace,” said police detective Karanjraj Vaghela.

Nathwani initially denied any wrongdoing but later “confessed” to his involvement in the crime. “He told us that he was fed up with his mother’s illness. Sandip told us that on the day of the incident he took his mother to the terrace and pushed her,” Vaghela said.
The police later registered an FIR against Nathwani under Section 302 (Punishment for murder) of the IPC on the basis of the application received by them.
