Egypt and Saudi Arabia were fully aware and in fact gave United States President Donald Trump the go ahead last week to name Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city.

They were also keen for Trump to announce that the US embassy would be moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Zvi Yehezkeli, Israel’s News 10 journalist commented that Donald Trump’s announcement could not have been made without partnership between the US and its main Arab allies.

He added that the Arab parties reactions, threats and condemnations were not genuine and fake.

“I am not sure about the Arab countries reactions to this resolution,” Yehezkeli said.

Worldwide Anger?

It’s been nearly a week since Donald Trump announced that the United states would formally recognise Jerusalem as Israel’s capital city and that the US embassy would be relocated from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

Worldwide condemnation followed, with leaders from countries slamming the decision as a “unilateral and outside the vision of a negotiated peace between Israelis and Palestinians,” warning of “heightened tensions or even violence across the Middle East.”
