US President Donald Trump has warned that “only one thing will work” in dealing with North Korea after years of talks with Pyongyang resulted in no progress.

“Presidents and their administrations have been talking to North Korea for 25 years,” he tweeted, adding that this “hasn’t worked”.

Although Donald Trump did not make clear what his hint meant, the suggestion of military measures was quickly inferred.

When quizzed by reporters about the cryptic tweet later that day, Trump would only say: “You’ll figure that out pretty soon.”

War Of Words?

Amid rising tension and exchanges of insults with the nuclear-armed regime of Kim Jong-un, Mr Trump has previously said the US will destroy North Korea if necessary to protect itself and its allies.

This comes after North Korea warned earlier this week that it would “win a final victory” over the “trigger happy“ US.

In the statement Pyongyang said: “Whenever the enemy struggles desperately, the Korean army and people will surely win a final victory in the spirit of self-reliance and self-development, closely rallied behind their leader.
