Have you heard of a Russian city called Norilsk?
You most likely have not. Its a city that mines nickel and is among the most polluted cities on Earth.
Norilsk is also in the permafrost zone. This means soil, rock or sediment in Norilsk is frozen for more than two consecutive years. Basically no plants or vegetables can grow.
Blood illnesses are 44% higher, nervous system illnesses are 38% higher, and bone and muscle system illnesses 28% higher among children in Norilsk than in other Siberian cities.
So congratulations, Norilsk. You may have the honor of being one of the most depressing city on the planet.
